Ordering Custom Amounts
It turns out that building an web interface to sell fabric yardage is tricky (or very expensive). If you need custom amounts, please contact us.
About our Quilting Cotton
We are printing our fabrics with Paintbrush Studios (Kansas City, MO) using their 100% cotton, 42” wide quilting cotton. Paintbrush has a good reputation in the quilting community. There quilting cotton has a high thread count and hint of sateen finish and a good drape.
Ordering Other Fabric Substrates
Many of my designs are available on Spoonflower.com. Spoonflower offers about 20 different fabric types including knits, upholstery fabrics, cozy fleeces and fashion fabrics. To find my designs in Spoonflower, search for ‘desertbird’ (no space between ‘desert’ and ‘bird’).
Note that scale of the patterns may vary on Spoonflower vs. my standard quilting cotton because I often print in larger scale from this site for some of my home decor products. The vibrancy of the inks also varies based on the substrate – natural fibers are typically more muted and polyester fibers run more hot. Therefore, please consider buying a swatch from Spoonflower before making a large purchase.
Licensing Designs to Other Fabric Stores
We are licensing access to our fabric designs in a controlled, geographically exclusive manner. Licensees will be able to purchase designs directly from Paintbrush Studios .. combining Desert Bird designs with other Paintbrush offerings in order to meet Paintbrush thresholds for volume discounts. We are committed to the idea of geographic exclusivity because remaining small and special helps to justify the high cost of custom fabric printing.
If you are interested in becoming a licensee, please contact us.
